WILDLIFE SERIES
The Canadian PRONGHORN ANTELOPE coin is the fifth coin released in the Royal Canadian Mint’s “Canadian Wildlife Series” program.
The Silver Antelope’s reverse features a graceful walking Pronghorn, designed by famed Canadian artist, Emily S. Damstra. Though technically not an antelope, the North American Pronghorn is one of the fastest-running mammals to live in the Western Hemisphere. And as the last surviving member of the Antilocapridae family, the sprightly Pronghorn is a beloved symbol of Canada’s bountiful wildlife.
The obverse of the 2013 Canadian Pronghorn bears the profile of Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by Susan Blunt. Previous to the Silver Canadian Pronghorn, the Royal Canadian Mint issued four Wildlife Series designs, including the Canadian silver wolf, the silver grizzly, the cougar and moose.
